Blanc de Morgex Cru 'Rayon' Cave Mont Blanc de Morgex et La Salle 2020

The Blanc de Morgex Cru "Rayon" by Cave de Morgex et La Salle is a white wine with a fresh and delicate profile, produced from the indigenous Valle d'Aosta grape Prié Blanc. It is a wine born at altitude, on the slopes of Mont Blanc, and brings to the glass the characteristics of an extreme and difficult terroir. It is a sort of challenge of the courageous Valle d'Aosta vigneron, who, following the most ancient customs, have continued to cultivate vines in impervious and difficult areas, giving us the pleasure of a unique white wine.

The "Rayon" Blanc de Morgex Cru is one of the flagship labels of the Cave de Morgex et La Salle estate. The winery collects and vinifies the grapes of small vigneron of the area, now many decades united in a single production reality. Prié Blanc is a vine with very special characteristics, which has adapted perfectly to the difficult climatic conditions of the area. It has a very short vegetative cycle. It germinates late, avoiding the spring cold, and ripens early, so as to avoid the first frosts that herald the autumn. It is often still grown as a own-rooted vine, as phylloxera does not survive the low temperatures at this altitude. The vineyards of Morgex et La Salle climb to almost 1,200 metres above sea level, among the highest in Europe, together with those of Vispertimen in the Valais. After gentle pressing, the must is sent to alcoholic fermentation in steel. The wine matures for about 9 months in steel before being bottled.

The Cru "Rayon" Cave de Morgex et La Salle is a white wine with a taut and vibrant profile, expressing all the freshness of the altitude climate and the finesse of a grape variety such as Prié Blanc. The colour is a pale straw yellow. The nose expresses a subtle and refined bouquet, with delicate aromas of wild flowers, mountain herbs, citrus, peach and white fruit. The first sensations on the palate are savouriness, light fruit aromas and the finish presents a lively freshness.
