Chardonnay 'Cuvée Bois' Les Cretes 2016

Chardonnay Cuvee Bois by Les Cretes is a typical wine of the mountains, where the substantial mineral and sapid characteristics are softened by an expert aging in the extraordinary barriques commissioned by the owner Costantino Charrere, according to ideal levels of toasting. Costantino Charrere founded in 1989 the winery Les Cretes in Aymavilles, where the scenic hillside of the Côteau Tour showcases its medieval tower, inhabited until the last century by a hermit of the village, now symbol of the company. The areal of production of Les Cretes, which originates in the hard mountain region of Aosta Valley, is characterized by a high fragmentation of the vineyards and a high plant density due to the slope of the land, whose moraine and sandy soils constitute an ideal environment for the cultivation of many indigenous and international varieties, such as Chardonnay. The alpine climate strongly influences the organoleptic characteristics of the local wines: the grapes late harvested undergo extreme changes in temperature during Fall; this phenomenon, typical of mountain areas, promotes the formation of the aromatic precursors in the grapes, which greatly enrich the most fragrant components in wines. In this extraordinary terroir comes to life Chardonnay Cuvee Bois, a wine of great structure able to deal with long periods of aging and to bear comparison with important Chardonnay from Burgundy.
